Does Themba cream have a beneficial effect on corns.

We do have a number of state registered chiropodists who use Themba for both corns and verrucas.

Unlike verrucas, which are caused by strains of papillomavirus, corns and calluses are thickenings that form in the skin in areas of pressure. The medical term for the thickened skin that forms corns and calluses is hyperkeratosis.

A callus refers to a more diffuse, flattened area of thick skin, while a corn is a thick, localized area that usually has a conical or circular shape. Corns, also known as helomas, sometimes have a dry, waxy, or translucent appearance.

Themba will certainly help to soften the corn if applied regularly. There are also some home remedies which can be useful.

Baking soda can be effective -  Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda to a half a basin of warm water. Soak your feet in this solution for about half an hour and then use a pumice stone to rub away the dead skin.

Aspirin is also a great remedy for healing corns. Put three drops of water over a couple of aspirins to make a paste. Apply this paste on the corn and cover the corn with a band aid. Leave on overnight. Repeat this process every night until the corn heals completely.

You can then use Themba during the day to keep the skin softened.
