Sceletium

sceletium.jpg

Sceletium Tortuosum is a perennial plant with spidery flowers found in Southern Africa with a long history of use in the treatment of anxiety.

Sceletium contains alkaloids that interact with the body’s dopamine and serotonin receptors to encourage a feeling of wellbeing. In Africa, the plant is chewed for its juices – its African name ‘Kanna’ means ‘something to chew’ – and it is used as a mood-enhancing stress-reliever with natural sedative qualities.
