Passion Flower

passionflower.jpg

This beautiful evergreen climber is common in the Americas. It was used by the Native American Indians as a medicinal plant, and its active parts include the stunning flower itself, but not the roots.

Passion Flower is rich in flavonoids and alkaloids, and it is thought that these regulate the neurotransmitters in the nervous system that reduce anxiety. Passion flower is considered to be mildly sedative, helping the body to relax as well as having anti-spasmodic actions. It can help to relieve restless legs and body tension.
