Kigelia Africana

kigelia-africana.jpg

Kigelia Africana is a tree found in low-lying altitudes in Southern Africa. It produces an amazing pod in the shape of a sausage, sometimes as heavy as 10kg. This fruit has long been used traditionally for dry skin conditions.

Alongside the intrinsic soothing and ultra-moisturising capabilities of the fruit, the chemical constituency of Kigelia (in particular the naphthoquinones and iridoids) give it anti-microbial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties. This means that Kigelia is suitable for treating a multitude of conditions where the skin is damaged :

  • Eczema
  • Psoriasis
  • Dermatitis
  • Acne (spots)
  • Cold sores
  • Verrucas
  • Viral warts
  • Athletes foot
  • Cuts, stings and burns
